Meet the counselor
Mr. Keith Ritchey, MS, LPC |
BACKGROUND/CAREER:
I grew up in State College, PA and went to State College High School. I attended Lock Haven University and graduated with a B.S. in Special Education. After beginning my career as a special education teacher at Frederick County Public Schools (located in Frederick, MD), I continued my education and graduated with a M.S. in Counselor Education. After I moved to Harrisburg in 2006, I began working as a mobile therapist, behavioral specialist, school-based therapist, and outpatient therapist. During this time, I completed post graduate course work and received my license to be a Licensed Professional Counselor. In 2018, while working as a therapist for TrueNorth Wellness Service, I worked at a new program/service at Lower Dauphin high school called the Therapeutic First Aid room. It was during this time when inspiration struck to return to working in schools full time. I was hired at Lower Dauphin in August of 2021 and continue to love working with the East Hanover Elementary staff, kids, and families!
FAMILY/PERSONAL:
I currently live in Hummelstown, PA with my wife, 3 daughters, and a never and/or perfectly behaved chocolate Labrador Retriever (it just depends on what treats you have readily available). We enjoy all things field hockey, soccer, track and field, band/chorus, local concerts, hiking and camping, biking... which, somehow, always involves ice cream, Hershey Park, and farmers markets. In my spare time, you can find me doing something related to: Penn State/Steelers football, playing guitar or mandolin, reading a biography, and fishing (or, at least, dreaming of it in... some... distant... secluded... and quiet land).
